Board certified Accepting new patients

Dr. Gerti Tashko practices at GT Health on Omega Drive in Rockville, taking a cardiometabolic view of endocrine care rather than treating each abnormal number in isolation.

Training and credentials

Dr. Tashko earned his medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine in 2004, then completed internal medicine residency and a research-focused endocrinology fellowship at Penn State’s Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. He holds board certification in endocrinology, obesity medicine, hypertension, and clinical lipidology — a combination almost no other physician in the region carries. He is affiliated with Johns Hopkins Suburban Hospital.

Why patients choose Dr. Tashko

Metabolic syndrome rarely arrives one diagnosis at a time. Patients who have been sent to three separate specialists for weight, blood pressure, and lipids often consolidate that care here, where the treatment plan — including GLP-1 therapy, lipid management, and blood pressure control — is built as one plan.

Clinical focus

Type 1 and type 2 diabetes, thyroid disease, obesity and weight management, dyslipidemia, resistant hypertension, and osteoporosis. He sees patients in English and Albanian.
